HeyScout ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how you can request deletion of your account and associated app data.

Information we collect

When you use HeyScout, we may collect the following types of information:

Account information

We collect your email address and, if provided, your name. Your email address is used for sign-in, account management, and account-related communication.

Optional profile information

You may choose to provide optional information such as your location, city/state, ZIP code, or phone number. Location information may be used to support future local or personalized deal features. Phone numbers may be used only if optional SMS alert features are enabled.

Deal preferences and app activity

We collect information you create or generate while using the app, including followed brands, Scouts, saved deals, price alerts, related watch records, notification preferences, recently viewed deals, and deal interactions.

Waitlist information

If you join the HeyScout waitlist, we may collect your email address, optional name, selected categories, favorite brands, and how you heard about HeyScout.

Feedback submissions

If you submit beta feedback, we may collect the information you provide in the feedback form, including your comments, selected answers, preferred brands or retailers, and device or experience details.

Click and activity records

We may collect basic activity records, such as pages visited, deals opened, buttons clicked, and alert-related activity, to improve the app, troubleshoot issues, and understand which features are useful.

Device, platform, and diagnostic information

HeyScout may use hosting, authentication, analytics, or app platform services that collect basic technical information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the app.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide account access and app functionality.
  • Show Scouts, saved deals, followed brands, and recently viewed deals.
  • Deliver or prepare deal alerts based on your preferences.
  • Personalize deal recommendations and brand-related experiences.
  • Improve HeyScout during private beta.
  • Troubleshoot bugs, security issues, and performance problems.
  • Respond to feedback, support requests, or deletion requests.
  • Maintain legal, security, and compliance records where required.

Affiliate links and retailer sites

Some deal links may be affiliate links. If you click an external deal link and make a purchase, HeyScout may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Checkout occurs on the retailer's website, not inside HeyScout.

External retailer websites have their own privacy policies and terms. HeyScout is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party retailer websites. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

How we share information

HeyScout does not sell your personal information.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate the app, including hosting, authentication, email delivery, analytics, support, security, and app infrastructure providers. These providers are used only to support HeyScout's functionality and operations.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to maintain app security.

Data retention

We keep account and app activity data for as long as needed to provide HeyScout, improve the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security.

Demo deals, public deal catalog data, and brand records are not user-specific and are not deleted when a user deletes their account.

Account and data deletion

You may delete your in-app account data from:

When you delete your account, HeyScout deletes or anonymizes user-associated app data such as Scouts, saved deals, price alerts, related watch records, followed brands, notification preferences, recently viewed deals, click records, sent alert logs, and matching waitlist records.

Some provider-managed sign-in identifiers may remain with a deletion marker because HeyScout cannot fully remove authentication records managed by third-party platform providers from app code.

Your choices

You can:

  • Update optional profile information where available.
  • Change alert and notification preferences.
  • Unsave deals or remove alerts.
  • Unfollow brands.
  • Submit a data deletion request.
  • Delete your account and associated app data.

Children's privacy

HeyScout is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as HeyScout develops. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
